Incredibly rare handwritten and signed 1913 letter from the great Harold Hilton to a 37 year old A.W. Tillinghast. Hilton won 7 Major Championships including 4 British Amateurs, 2 Open Championships, and 1 US Amateur. This letter's recipient is the great golf course architect A.W Tillinghast, who is known for such designs as Winged Foot, Baltusrol, and Bethpage Black. Though we've sold well over a dozen Harry Vardon letters from this time period, this is the very first time that we've ever offered a Harold Hilton letter. The letter is on Ashford Manor Golf Club letterhead - where Hilton was secretary in 1913.

This letter originates from the personal collection of A.W. Tillinghast. When much of Tillinghast's personal library was auctioned by bookseller PBA Galleries, this letter was tacked inside the front endpaper of a 1912 The Royal & Ancient Game of Golf book.
