Offered here is an original circa 1897 photographic print of Old Tom Morris. This iconic "Bunker Photo" of Old Tom was taken by photographer James Patrick of Edinburgh. The photo is usually attributed to 1897, though some claim it was taken for Old Tom's 75th birthday in June 1896. Either way, it is quite possibly the most iconic image of Old Tom Morris that exists (a lesser grade example sold in our Summer 2011 Auction, Lot 290, Final Price: $2,190). This photograph was produced by George Stewart & Co. of Edinburgh. Measures 16 1/2" x 12".

This piece contains handwritten notes on the border of photo that reads:

Presented to St Andrews Golf Club of America by

Andrew Kirkaldy (signed)

St. Andrews Scotland 1928

Brought to St. Andrews of America by R.H. Davis

July 4, 1928

On the back is written St. Andrews Golf Club 1/2/38

Small 1" tear at top middle.

In addition to this photograph being valuable, Andrew Kirkaldy's autograph is quite rare. He is perhaps the greatest golfer to not win the Open Championship, as he finished in the top ten 14 times, including finishing 2nd to his own brother in 1891.
