Tony Jacklin was the most celebrated British golfer of his generation. He was the first European player to win on the U.S. tour since the 1920s with his victory at the 1968 Jacksonville Open Invitational. Jacklin then went on to win the 1969 Open Championship and 1970 US Open. Even so, Jacklin is likely even more well-known today for his involvement in the Ryder Cup. He participated in 7 consecutive Ryder Cup Matches as a player, and then went on to Captain the European team 4 more times. It is his role as Ryder Cup Captain for which he is most revered in Britain. Jacklin led his team to its first victory in 28 years at the 1985 Ryder Cup, and then shocked the world by leading Europe to victory again in 1987 - Europe’s first-ever victory on US soil. His career also included “the Concession” at the 1969 Ryder Cup, and an induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.

Offered here is Tony Jacklin’s actual 1975 Ryder Cup trophy. Arnold Palmer Captained a stacked United States Team including Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, and Johnny Miller to a 21 to 11 victory over Tony Jacklin’s British squad. The 1975 Ryder Cup at Arnold Palmer’s Laurel Valley was one of the most lopsided US victories ever, and led to the expansion to a European Team the next time the Ryder Cup was on American soil.

Though the British Team was soundly defeated, Tony Jacklin certainly did his part – contributing 2.5 points to his team’s total of 11. And, as we now know, Jacklin would get hid revenge on the Americans in due time. It should be noted that this official Ryder Cup trophy was presented to Tony Jacklin some years after his retirement, though this in no way diminishes from this trophy’s enormous appeal. It is the only official Ryder Cup trophy ever produced for Tony Jacklin for 1975 Ryder Cup.

A few of Jacklin's Ryder Cup trophies from other years are part of the Tony Jacklin display at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews. But not his 1975 Ryder Cup trophy, as it is available here to the highest bidder.

This Ryder Cup trophy stands 12” tall and measures 6” from handle to handle.

Letter of Authenticity from Tony Jacklin.
