Offered in this lot are two incredible items that originate from the personal collection of famed golf course architect H.S. Colt. The first is a golf green sketch pad that is autographed on the reverse by three of the greatest golf course architects in history - Alister MacKenzie, H.S. Colt, and Charles H. Alison. Alister MacKenzie has dated his signature 1920, which is the same year as the accompanying photograph.

The photograph is an original 1st generation photo of Alister MacKenzie playing golf with Charles Alison at Sandy Lodge outside of London in April 1920. These items come from well before MacKenzie vaulted to fame with his designs at Augusta National and Cypress Point, which opened in 1928 and 1933, respectively. 1920 is also the year that MacKenzie published his now-legendary book Golf  Architecture, which had the introduction written by H.S. Colt.

The sketch pad still contains approximately 21 blank pages and measures 7 1/4" x 5 1/4". The photograph measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is mounted to board to 10 1/2" x 7 1/4".
